🛑 The Gist: The Georgia Department of Transportation has announced lane closures on Ga. 400 to accommodate bridge replacements and widening at three key overpasses: Pitts Road, Roberts Drive, and Kimball Bridge Road.

🚜 The Details:
Due to ongoing construction for the Ga. 400 Bridge Replacements project, several lane closures are scheduled:

  • Daytime Flagging: April 15-19, 2024, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. daily, affecting Roberts Drive over Ga. 400 and near the Pitts Road and Colquitt Road intersection.
  • Nighttime Closures:
    • April 14, 2024: Multiple-lane closures and pacing from 8 p.m. to 6 a.m. at the Pitts Road overpass.
    • April 15-19, 2024: Nightly multiple-lane closures and pacing from 9 p.m. to 6 a.m. at the Roberts Drive overpass.
    • April 19, 2024: Extended overnight closures from 9 p.m. to 8 a.m. at the Roberts Drive overpass.
  • Long-Term Closure:
    • Kimball Bridge Road has been closed since May 8, 2023, and will continue until spring 2024.
    • Pitts Road has been closed since June 12, 2023, and will also remain closed until spring 2024.

Detour routes are highlighted in red on local signage and online maps provided by Georgia DOT.

🛣️ Why It Matters: The project is crucial for improving roadway conditions and expanding capacity on a busy highway that serves as a critical artery for northern Atlanta suburbs. Commuters should expect delays and plan routes accordingly to avoid congestion.

🔜 What’s Next?: Construction activities will continue to affect traffic patterns in the area throughout 2024, with expected completion of all bridge replacements by spring 2025. Motorists are advised to stay informed on closure updates and detour routes via Georgia DOT announcements.
