A man held at the Troup County jail died at the hospital this week after staff noticed he was having mental health problems.

What Happened: 56-year-old Jody Wilson, appeared to be having a mental health crisis on Oct. 14. Jail medical staff checked him and sent him to the hospital. The next morning, hospital workers told the jail that Wilson had died.

What’s Next: The Georgia Bureau of Investigation will look into Wilson’s death. Doctors have not yet determined what caused him to die. Wilson was in jail for breaking the rules of his probation.
