A 19-year-old died Tuesday after crashing his motorcycle on the sixth floor of the City Center East Parking Deck in downtown Woodstock.
What It Means For You: The sixth floor of the new parking deck will stay closed while police investigate. If you park downtown, you’ll need to use lower levels.
What Happened: Police got the call on September 30. When officers arrived, the young man’s friends were already trying to help him. Fire crews from Woodstock and Cherokee County rushed to the scene, but the teen died there.
What Police Know: Investigators think speed played a role in the crash. No other vehicles were involved. The Woodstock Police Department is still working to understand exactly what happened.
The Big Picture: The City Center East Parking Deck opened recently as part of Woodstock’s downtown growth. This marks the first fatal accident at the new facility.
The Sources: Woodstock Police Department.
