Georgia has had more than 10,000 coronavirus hospitalizations

Georgia passed the 10,000 mark for hospitalizations for COVID-19 today, according to the Georgia Department of Public Health.

Georgia passed the 10,000 mark for hospitalizations for COVID-19 today, according to the Georgia Department of Public Health.

The state reported 170 new hospitalizations today, bringing the total to 10,123. There have been 2,174 ICU admissions statewide.

Georgia also reported 1,750 new cases of coronavirus today, marking the second time this week that the number of newly reported cases in a single day have been higher than April 7, which was the previous high. This is also the fifth time in June that more than 1,000 cases have been reported in a single day.

On Saturday, the state reported 1,800 new cases.

The total number of confirmed cases in Georgia now stands at 67,678. The state also reported 40 new deaths today, bringing the total number of deaths from COVID-19 in Georgia to 2,688.
