Daily count of new coronavirus cases in Georgia remains high

Georgia added more than 3,000 new coronavirus cases for the second straight day Wednesday and hospitalizations continued their upward trend.

Georgia added more than 3,000 new coronavirus cases for the second straight day Wednesday and hospitalizations continued their upward trend.

The state now has a total of 103,890 confirmed cases with 12,500 hospitalizations and 2,922 deaths.

The state added 274 new hospitalizations Wednesday and health care officials throughout the state have expressed concern over the growing numbers.

Gwinnett County became the first County in Georgia to top 10,000 cases this week. The county now has 10,237 cases and 175 deaths. Fulton County is approaching the 10,000 case mark with 9,358 cases and 3190 deaths.

Atlanta Mayor Keisha Lance Bottoms said today that the city of Atlanta would join East Point, Savannah and Athens in enacting an ordinance requiring masks in public.

Wednesday marked the second straight day with more than 3,000 new cases and the 17th straight day with more than 1,000 new cases.
