The Hall County Sheriff’s Office confirmed that Maria Gomez-Perez, the 12-year-old missing from Gainesville since May 29, has been found safe in another state. Maria is in good health, a relief to a community that has been on edge since her disappearance.

Sheriff Gerald Couch praised the collective effort. “The tireless work of our CIB, law enforcement partners, and the community has resulted in the best possible outcome. Our prayers for Maria’s safe return have been answered.”

Maria went missing from her home on Westside Drive near Pearl Nix Parkway. Last seen at 10 a.m. on May 29, she was described as 5’3″ tall, weighing between 100-110 pounds, with long black hair and brown eyes. She was wearing a bright blue shirt at the time of her disappearance.

Authorities launched a comprehensive search immediately. Over two dozen investigators from local, state, and federal agencies joined the search.

While Maria has been found, investigators continue to probe the circumstances of her disappearance. The community played a crucial role by sharing BOLO flyers and information on social media, which likely contributed to the successful outcome.
