ALPHARETTA — Residents of Alpharetta can weigh in on a spate of proposed improvements on North Point Parkway from Mansell Road to Haynes Bridge Road at an open house July 26 and online through Aug. 2.
The proposed improvements are part of the North Point Parkway Streetscape Enhancement project.
An in-person informal Public Information Open House will be held July 26 from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. at City Hall at 2 Park Plaza in Alpharetta.
For those who can’t attend, a virtual open house is currently available online. The site, https://0017814-northpointpkwy-gdot.hub.arcgis.com, will also be accessible from the City of Alpharetta’s webpage and will accept public comments on the project through Aug. 2.
“As with our other corridor improvement projects, the success of the North Point Parkway project will hinge on the participation of the citizens and others who live, work, and own property in that area,” said Eric Graves, the city engineer leading the project. “They will know better than anyone what changes will positively impact their quality of life, and we want that input.”
Proposed improvements to the corridor are designed to do the following:
- Reduce impervious pavement
- Add 12-foot shared-use paths for walkability and connectivity
- Replace and upgrade traffic signals
- Improve traffic operations and safety
- Provide low impact/green infrastructure for stormwater management
- Preserve mature landscaping in the medians
- Provide additional hardscape and landscape features along the corridor
- Create more opportunities for utility relocations
- Minimize right of way impacts and costs
- Provide a more cost-effective solution
- Encourage redevelopment along the corridor
The online project site includes the project displays, handouts and materials that will be shared at the in-person open house.
To view the printed displays, please Contact Eric Graves, City of Alpharetta, 2 Park Plaza, ground floor or email egraves@alpharetta.ga.us.
Project displays will be available weekdays, from July 18 to Aug. 2 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Representatives from the city will not be available with these displays; however, you may submit questions regarding the project using any of the comment options available below.
Public comments will be accepted during the virtual open house and until Aug. 2, 2022 by:

In The Know: While much attention is given to national politics and the workings of Congress and the White House, local government meetings are where the decisions that impact your daily life are made. City Council, County Commission, School Board Meetings, and Town Halls are where your elected leaders discuss and decide the issues that most effect your family and your community. These meetings are open to the public.
Each week, The Georgia Sun highlights some of the meetings and local government actions you need to know about in your community to keep you informed and to make sure you know what decisions your elected officials are considering and how your tax dollars are being spent.
