Many US states are known for various things, and Georgia is no exception. We have New York for its shopping, Nevada for its gambling culture, and then we have Georgia. Georgia is well-known for its agricultural crop production, exciting festivals, and outdoor activities. Georgia has something for everyone, whether you want to try delicious local cuisine or experience a unique tradition.

Georgia, also known as the “Peach State,” is one of the largest and most diverse states east of the Mississippi River. The scenery varies dramatically, from the scenic Blue Ridge Mountains in the north to the vast Okefenokee Swamp in the south. In this charming southern state, you’ll find the thriving metropolis of Atlanta, the historic town of Savannah, and much more. We compiled this list of the best things to do in Georgia because we believe that this great state should be shared by everyone.

Savannah Historic District

The Savannah Historic District is well-known outside of Georgia. It is also the most extensive urban historic district in the United States, with relatively accurate dimensions to the original city of Savannah as it was during the Civil War. Over 20 city squares are packed with tourist attractions such as park spaces, historical structures, and fun visitor draws, making for a great time. Savannah, Georgia’s oldest city, served as the state’s first capital. It was founded in 1733 and is now the third-largest metropolitan area in the state, with some of the most exciting and unique city designs, particularly in the south of the country.

Providence Canyon State Park

Providence Canyon State Park is called “Georgia’s Little Grand Canyon.” It is a lovely State Park with plenty of things to do and see while exploring. The park is best known for its canyons and gullies, which give it its distinct landscape. It is a popular destination for those in Georgia or just visiting who are looking for some outdoor adventures. It is located in West-Central Georgia. There is little to do outside the park, and the nearest city is 30 to 40 minutes away. Remember that as you plan your day trip. You should bring enough water and snacks to last the entire day.

Okefenokee National Wildlife Refuge

The spectacular Okefenokee National Wildlife Refuge is located in the state’s southeast. Its flooded forests and endless wetlands have been protected as part of a park since 1937 and are a joy to explore. Boat tours and kayak trips are the best ways to see the magnificent submerged scenery. Visitors can see various birds and amphibians while paddling through the bogs and swamps. The murky marsh is said to be home to over 10,000 alligators. Despite the harsh environment, Native Americans have lived in the area for thousands of years; Okefenokee means “Land of the Trembling Earth” in their native language.
