The Fort Valley State University community is grieving the loss of a freshman student from Columbus who died this week.

What’s Happening: Jame’la Moore, a first-year student, died October 17. The university announced her passing and shared a message from its president.

What’s Important: In a statement, FVSU President Paul Jones said, “The FVSU community mourns the loss of our scholar, Jame’la Moore. Our thoughts and prayers are with her family and all who knew and loved her.”

Support for Students: The university is directing students who need counseling or support to its Wellness Center. A 24/7 support line is also available through UWILL at 833-646-1526.
