Labor Day weekend is Sept. 2 through 5, and Atlanta restaurants deliver countless ways to cherish the unofficial end of summer with irresistible dishes, specials, and dancing. 

A variety of exciting annual events also lure thousands of guests into the city over the weekend.

The Chick-fil-A Kickoff Game takes over Mercedes-Benz Stadium when the NCAA National Champion Georgia Bulldogs go head-to-head with the Oregon Ducks on Sept. 3 followed by the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets taking on the Clemson Tigers on Sept. 5. Dragon Con, the largest multi-media, pop culture convention in the universe, brings an eclectic group of sci-fi, fantasy and gaming fans to the heart of the city for four days of workshops, fan panels and the not-to-be-missed parade down Peachtree Street.

In Midtown, Atlanta Black Pride celebrates with a weekend of workshops, festivals, comedy shows, entertainment, and more. 

Downtown

For those attending the Chick-fil-A Kickoff games or Dragon Con, Tin Lizzy’s Cantina downtown is the perfect place to unwind. Nothing pairs better with Atlanta fun and the eatery’s selection of tacos than a cold margarita. Guests can refresh with $4 TLC margaritas all day on Monday, Sept. 5.

Buckhead

Guests are invited to kick off weekend nights during happy hour at Chido & Padre’s.From 4-7 p.m. on Friday, Saturday and Sunday, the Buckhead gathering spot offers specialty margaritas—including The House Authority mixing el Jimador Blanco and fresh citrus juices and Smoky Hibiscus with Xicaru Silver mezcal, fresh lime juice, hibiscus syrup and orange zest—dressed tequila shots and select wine features for $7. Gypsy Kitchen entices guests with Mediterranean-themed fun on Sunday, Sept. 4 from 12-10 p.m. The restaurant presents Under the Mediterranean Sun featuring a variety of tasty bites and beverages. A rooftop view of Buckhead Village pairs well with live music and a shareable Tangier Sunset mixing vodka, elderflower, watermelon, cucumber, and habanero honey for an irresistible sip. On Monday, Sept. 5, Gypsy Kitchen will open at noon serving from its dinner menu. Make reservations online.

Extend the weekend dancing to the greatest hits at Johnny’s Hideaway. The hotspot will be open until 3 a.m. on Sunday, Sept. 4. so guests can make the most of the long holiday weekend. After 9 p.m., Johnny’s charges a $5 entry fee. 

The Southern Gentleman hosts a Labor Day brunch buffet on Monday, Sept. 5 from 11 a.m.-6 p.m. For $42, guests will be offered an array of Southern favorites including fried chicken, braised short rib pot roast, buttermilk pancakes, smoked Gouda mac ‘n cheese, roasted garlic new potatoes, grilled asparagus, butterscotch mousse, and much more. Those who can’t squeeze in that final beach trip of the summer are invited to catch some mouthwatering seafood at The Big Ketch Saltwater Grill. The Buckhead eatery will be open regular hours over Labor Day weekend serving its menu of coastal-inspired cuisine.

Sandy Springs 

SabaRaba’s, the authentic Israeli street food experience in Sandy Springs, will be open during regular business hours over Labor Day weekend. Signature dishes, such as slow-roasted shawarma and made-to-order falafel, are served from a welcoming yellow shipping container replicating the feeling of a “falafeliya” in Israel. SabaRaba’s offers online and walk-up orders for takeout or for guests to enjoy at its outside seating area. Guests also can place orders for delivery via Grubhub and Uber Eats

Roswell/Alpharetta 

Cattle Shed Wine & Steak Bar provides an all-American fix for the long weekend. The upscale eatery will serve its Cattle Shed prime burger and fries all day on Monday, Sept. 5 for $20. The extensive wine list starts at $7.50 per glass. Make reservations online.

For a meaty end to the Labor Day weekend, Milton’s Cuisine & Cocktails in historic Crabapple features half-priced filet mignons in addition to its regular menu on Monday, Sept. 5. Reservations can be made online.

Ocean and Acre in Alpharetta will be open during regular business hours serving a menu of dishes from land and sea. Guests also are invited to drift in on Friday and Monday from 4-6 p.m. for happy hour featuring blackened salmon tacos, oyster deals, bar bites, and drink features. Make reservations online.

Multiple Locations

All locations of HOBNOB Neighborhood Tavern will be open regular hours over Labor Day weekend with brunch service from 11:30 a.m.-4 p.m. on Saturday, Sunday and Monday. The Brookhaven and Dunwoody locations will feature bottomless mimosas for $19.95 while Atlantic Station and Halcyon will have mimosa pitchers for $17.95. Brookhaven and Dunwoody will serve brunch only and no lunch menu on Monday.
