Parents of some DeKalb County school students report they have received a Notice of Data Breach letter from a company called PCS Revenue Control Systems Inc.

The letter says that their child’s name, student identification number and date of birth were potentially exposed to unauthorized access during a data breach in December 2019. Credit monitoring services were offered as a result. The letter also explained that there was no evidence that information was accessed or used for malicious purposes.

The DeKalb County School District says it used a company named Advanced Business Technology for several years to support the district’s school nutrition program. The district has not used the company’s services since the 2016 – 2017 school year. ABT was acquired by PCS Revenue Control Systems Inc. in 2016.

The school system wants parents to know that school system technology was not breached. “It is important to note that the school district has not experienced a breach of the district’s technology infrastructure or systems related to this matter. The district was informed of this incident on Thursday, March 25, 2021, through parents who received these letters.,” The district said in a letter to parents.
