Third party data breach affects DeKalb County students

Parents of some DeKalb County school students report they have received a Notice of Data Breach letter from a company called PCS Revenue Control Systems Inc. The letter says that their child’s name, student identification number and date of birth were potentially exposed to unauthorized access during a data breach in December 2019. Credit monitoring services were offered as a result. The letter also explained that there was no evidence that information was accessed or used for malicious purposes. ATLANTA – Atlanta-based The Home Depot has agreed to pay a $17.5 million settlement with 46 states including Georgia over a 2014 data breach The settlement, announced Tuesday, resolves a multistate investigation of a data breach involving the payment card information of about 40 million Home Depot customers nationwide.
