Officials say the pressure drop occurred after a water main break and triggered the advisory under Georgia’s environmental safety rules.

What You Should Do: Residents in the affected zone are advised to boil all water for at least one minute after it reaches a rolling boil before using it for drinking, cooking, or preparing baby food. This precautionary measure will remain in effect until further notice.

Why It Matters: Officials say some residents experienced low to no water pressure, which could have introduced contaminants into the water system. DeKalb County has increased water quality testing to ensure safety.

What Residents Might Experience: As service resumes, some homes and businesses may notice brown water. To address this, the county suggests running faucets, both inside and outside, to clear plumbing systems.

Take Action: Bottled water is available at the following distribution centers:

  • Fire Station 1: 1670 Clifton Road
  • Fire Station 3: 24 N. Clarendon Avenue
  • Fire Station 7: 1712 Columbia Drive
  • Fire Station 9: 3858 N. Druid Hills Road
  • Fire Station 20: 2919 Warren Road
  • RaceTrac: 3630 Clairmont Road
