In a bid to boost film, media, and computing education in Georgia, the University of West Georgia and Great Point Studios are putting pen to paper on a groundbreaking partnership. The deal promises to not only enrich academic programs but also catalyze local economic growth.

The collaborative effort between the two organizations is primarily aimed at crafting a talent pipeline that’s chock-full of skilled graduates. These graduates are poised to shape the future of fields like film and media production, communication, digital editing, and computing. And their training ground? None other than the 500,000-square-foot film and television complex that Great Point Studios is setting up in Douglas County.

According to Dr. Jon Preston, the provost and senior vice president for academic affairs at the University of West Georgia, the partnership couldn’t be more in line with the university’s dedication to providing an education that balances theoretical knowledge and practical skills.

The agreement is set to infuse the University of West Georgia’s academic curriculum with innovative courses and stackable credentials that align with industry demands. Not to mention, students will get the opportunity to learn from professionals in the field and get their hands on state-of-the-art studio and production facilities at Great Point Studios.
