In the world of digital scoreboard mastery, a Georgia student is making a national name for himself, netting a hefty scholarship for his standout skills.

Noah Popp, a junior at Sequoyah High School in Cherokee County, has garnered the $5,000 Student Scoreboard Scholarship from Formetco Sports. Popp’s innovative use of the company’s video LED scoreboard technology at football games and other events has not only bagged him the financial boost, but also a consultancy role with the firm.

The tech-savvy student, who is in his third year at Sequoyah’s Career Pathway program for AV, Technology & Film, will serve as the high school student engagement manager for the company this school year. His teacher, Brad Mann, lauds Popp’s efforts: “Noah’s commitment to excellence and his exceptional skills in audio-visual production have made him an invaluable member of our school community.”

Popp’s achievement was celebrated at the recent annual scoreboard training event hosted by Formetco Sports. The event brought together high school students, athletic directors, and coaches. “We are thrilled to present this scholarship to Noah Popp,” said Jock Gibb, vice president of sales and marketing for Formetco Sports. “His passion, leadership and dedication to fan engagement make him an exceptional recipient.”

The Career Pathway program, available at all Cherokee County School District high schools, offers Audio/Video Technology and Film courses, with Sequoyah’s program boasting a prestigious industry certification. Superintendent of Schools Dr. Brian V. Hightower said the importance of such programs, stating, “The opportunities earned by Noah are why we continue to invest in expanding our Career Pathway programs. These programs help our students explore career fields and gain valuable skills and experiences to benefit them in their future careers.”

Popp’s achievement has not only brought pride to Sequoyah High School, but also sets a shining example of how the Career Pathway program can facilitate student success beyond the boundaries of the Peach State.
