Fulton County Schools just shattered its own graduation record for the fifth consecutive year, reaching an unprecedented 91.9% rate that puts the district well above state and national averages.

Why It Matters: While many districts nationwide continue struggling with pandemic recovery, Fulton’s 6.4% graduation rate increase since 2020 demonstrates effective strategies that are helping more students successfully complete high school despite ongoing challenges.

What’s Happening: The district has steadily climbed from a pandemic-era low of 85.5% to its current historic high, with 13 of its 21 high schools showing improvement over last year.

The Big Picture: Fulton credits its success to targeted academic supports, expanded advanced coursework, investment in Career, Technical and Agricultural Education pathways, and new data monitoring tools implemented during the pandemic recovery period.

Students who completed two or more CTAE courses achieved an impressive 99% graduation rate, highlighting the effectiveness of career-focused education.

Between the Lines: Global Impact Academy achieved a perfect 100% graduation rate for the second time in district history, while 17 schools – two more than last year – surpassed the 90% threshold.

Superintendent Dr. Looney noted the district has “transformed what was a period of crisis into one of restoration and thriving” through strategic use of recovery funds and data-driven approaches.
