Georgia students from kindergarten through grade 12 are invited to showcase their creativity in the 2024-25 International Fish Art Contest. Organized in part by the Georgia Department of Natural Resources’ Wildlife Resources Division, the contest encourages young artists to learn more about fish species and aquatic habitats through art and writing.
“By using art and writing, we hope that this art contest ignites children’s imagination and inspires them to discover more about fish and fishing,” said Chrystal Sherwood, an educator at Georgia DNR’s Go Fish Education Center.
Georgia students can enter either the International Fish Art Contest or the Go Fish Georgia Award contest, which highlights native or commonly sought fish species in the state. Students in fourth grade and above must also submit a brief piece of creative writing about their chosen species.
The artwork must be original and hand-drawn, with digital or artificial intelligence-generated submissions not allowed. Top entries for the Go Fish Georgia Award and state winners will have their artwork displayed at the Go Fish Education Center in Perry, Georgia.
Additional opportunities include specialty award categories such as the Guy Harvey Shark Award and the Invader Crusader Award, which may have specific requirements.
Entries are due by Feb. 28, 2025, and can be submitted digitally or mailed to Chrystal Sherwood at the Go Fish Education Center.
The Fish Art Contest is supported by organizations including Bass Pro Shops, the International Game Fish Association, and the Guy Harvey Foundation. Full contest details, entry forms, and additional information are available at FishArt.org.
