King Charles III became king the moment his mother, Queen Elizabeth II, died in September 2022. But in keeping with tradition, he is being anointed king at a coronation ceremony at Westminster Abbey today, May 6.
The king will take his oath in front of approximately 2,000 people in the abbey (and millions watching around the world). Although the event isn’t as star-studded as, say, a Royal Wedding, it’s packed with high-profile guests nonetheless.
