METTER — Two teenagers were shot after a dispute over a missing dog Tuesday. One teen is dead and the other was hospitalized and is in stable condition.
According to the Georgia Bureau of Investigation, preliminary information indicates that at 7:24 p.m., officers responded to a 911 call on North Leroy Street regarding a dispute over a missing dog. A few minutes later, another 911 caller advised they heard what sounded like kids fighting.
Officers investigated that incident and left the scene once the situation was resolved.
At 9:13 p.m., officers were dispatched to the same area after multiple 911 calls were received regarding shots being fired and individuals being shot.
According to the GBI, a 15-year-old boy was shot and taken to a local hospital where he was pronounced dead. A 14-year-old girl was also shot and was taken to a local hospital where she is in stable condition.
The GBI Medical Examiner’s Office will conduct an autopsy on the boy.
No arrests have been made at this time.
