One person was killed and two others were hurt in a shooting Monday evening in Midtown Atlanta, according to the Atlanta Police Department.

What happened: Atlanta Police Zone 5 officers responded at about 5:47 p.m. on March 30 to a report of multiple people shot at 230 18th St. NW. Officers found three adult victims with apparent gunshot wounds when they arrived.

The victims: A 32-year-old woman and a 26-year-old man were taken to the hospital by ambulance. Both were alert, conscious, and breathing. A second adult male victim was also taken to the hospital by ambulance. He was in critical condition and later died from his injuries.

The investigation: Atlanta Police Homicide Unit investigators responded to the scene. The investigation is ongoing. Police are asking people to avoid Market Street and the surrounding area.
