NORCROSS — Gwinnett County Police are actively searching for a man suspected of robbing and shooting a woman at a Norcross hotel last week.
The shooting occurred August 15, at a hotel located at 5945 Oakbrook Parkway. At about noon, officers responded to a report of a woman with gunshot wounds. The victim received immediate first aid from the officers on the scene before being transported to a local hospital. Her condition has not been disclosed.
According to the Gwinnett County Police Department, preliminary findings indicate the shooting was robbery-related. Detectives have since identified the alleged shooter as 44-year-old Jamel Leslie Cooke. He faces several charges, including Aggravated Assault, Armed Robbery, and firearms offenses.
Given that Cooke is considered armed and dangerous, the public is advised to exercise caution and not to approach him.
