A Cherokee County man is in jail after police say he beat his girlfriend with a gun and threatened to kill officers.
What Happened: Deputies went to Rolling Green Drive in Acworth around 1 p.m. Thursday after someone called 911 about a fight. The caller saw a man hitting a woman, but both people had left before police arrived.
The Victim: Deputies found the woman a short time later. She told them her boyfriend hit her with a gun and hurt her badly. She also said he told her he would kill any police officers who came after him.
The Arrest: Deputies got a warrant and tracked the man to a garage on East Cherokee Drive near Epperson Road. They talked to him for a long time before he gave up. No one else was hurt.
What It Means For You: East Cherokee Drive near Bart Manous Road was closed for several hours Thursday afternoon but has reopened.

What’s Next: The Cherokee Sheriff’s Office is still investigating. They have not released the names of the man or woman involved.
