A Hall County Deputy was killed in the line of duty. All four suspects are in police custody

GAINESVILLE — A Hall County Deputy was killed in the line of duty Sunday night while chasing a stolen vehicle.

The Georgia Bureau of Investigation is investigating the officer involved shooting that resulted in the death of Hall County Sheriff’s Deputy Nicolas Dixon.

Dixon was 28.

According to the GBI, preliminary information indicates that on Sunday at about 11:09 p.m., Dixon attempted to stop a stolen vehicle occupied by four men.

A chase ensued and ended with the subjects fleeing on foot.  Dixon and another deputy made contact with one of the subjects, 19-year-old Hector Garcia Solis, in a yard on Highland Avenue in Gainesville and gunfire was exchanged.

According to the GBI, Dixon was shot one time and subsequently died from the wound. 

Garcia was struck multiple times and is in critical condition at the Northeast Georgia Medical Center. 

According to the Hall County Sheriff’s office all four suspects wanted in connection with Dixon’s death are now in custody.
