On Thursday, Jan. 17, the GBI arrested Oak Park Fire Chief Willie Herman Williamson of Vidalia for one count of Theft by Taking.

On Oct. 2, 2018, the GBI was asked by the Oak Park Police Department to investigate allegations of misuse of city fuel funds.

According to the GBI, Oak Park Police Chief Gerald Price noticed a large amount of fuel being charged by the City of Oak Park Fire Dept. Officials say the investigation revealed that Williamson unlawfully took the City of Oak Park Fire Department fuel card and purchased fuel for his own personal use.

The illegal fuel purchases occurred between April 2017 and September 2018.

Williamson turned himself in to the Emanuel County Sheriff’s Office without incident.
