A fugitive wanted in Alabama and three others were arrested Thursday afternoon during a raid at a Bibb County home that uncovered drugs, illegal firearms, and a Glock Sear switch—an illegal device that converts handguns into machine guns.
The Suspects:
- Hunter Wayne Smith, 24: A convicted felon and wanted fugitive from Alabama, was found with a firearm during the search and faces two counts of possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.
- Christian Lewis Winters, 17: Allegedly in possession of the illegal Glock Sear switch, faces charges of possession of a machine gun during a crime, possession of a firearm by a person under 18, and theft by receiving stolen property.
- Devon Andrew Winters, 17: Charged with possession of a machine gun during the commission of a crime.
- Brittany Leann Sheffield, 35: Faces charges of possession of Schedule II narcotics and two counts of possession of a firearm during a felony.
What Happened: Investigators, acting on a tip about the delivery of a Glock Sear switch, surveilled a residence in the 3700 block of Greenway Place. After observing the package being brought inside, a search warrant was executed. Authorities apprehended the four individuals without incident and seized 20 grams of methamphetamines and five firearms, one of which had been reported stolen during a vehicle break-in in Bibb County on Nov. 1, 2024.
The Aftermath: All four suspects are currently being held without bond at the Bibb County Law Enforcement Center.
How You Can Help: The investigation is ongoing. Anyone with information is urged to contact the Bibb County Sheriff’s Office at 478-751-7500 or Macon Regional Crime Stoppers at 1-877-68CRIME.
