According to the sheriff’s office, deputies were called to a home on August 30, 2025, after reports of a fight inside the residence. When officers arrived, the situation quickly turned dangerous:

  • The suspect and victims retreated into the house.
  • The suspect fired a gun, hitting one of the victims.
  • The victim was airlifted to Grady Hospital for emergency care.

Deputies returned fire at the suspect before taking him into custody. His identity has not yet been released.

The Georgia Bureau of Investigation has been brought in to conduct an independent investigation, which is standard procedure when police use their weapons.
