DECATUR — An incident at a QuikTrip in DeKalb County ended with a suspect in critical condition after police say he pulled a knife on a police officer.
The incident occurred at 6:20 a.m. Sunday at the QuikTrip at 3830 N. Decatur Road in Decatur.
According to the Georgia Bureau of Investigation, an employee informed the officer that a man was outside with his pants down. The officer instructed the man to leave the area. Police say the man then pulled a knife and proceeded to advance towards the officer.
The officer fired a duty weapon, striking the man who was then taken to the hospital in critical condition.
No officers were injured in this incident.
The GBI will continue to conduct an independent investigation. Once complete, the investigation will be turned over to the DeKalb County District Attorney’s Office for review.
