Two California residents were arrested at an airport in Carrolton after the Georgia Bureau of Investigation was called to the airport to investigate a suspicious aircraft.
The GBI West Metro Regional Drug Enforcement Office responded to the West Georgia Regional Airport in Carrollton at the request of the U.S. Department of Homeland Security and Customs and Border Protection.
Agents from the agencies began searching a Piper Seneca aircraft operated by Nathan Gregory Deeds, 36, of San Rafeal, California, and Adrian Patrick Green, 30, of Redwood City, California. During the search officials say, 27.2 pounds of marijuana was discovered, along with $195,912.
According to officials, agents with the West Metro Regional Drug Enforcement Office conducted interviews with Deeds and Green who were subsequently arrested for trafficking in marijuana. Both suspects were transported to the Carroll County Jail.
According to investigators, preliminary inquiries have revealed that the aircraft is owned by a rental company in California.
