Gordon County Schools Closed Friday: Gordon County Schools will be closed on Friday, Jan. 10, due to a Winter Storm Watch and forecasts of snow, ice, and high winds.

Students are encouraged to complete any remaining assignments, including reading logs, spelling, vocabulary, or other classwork, during the closure. Officials will continue to monitor conditions and provide updates as needed. Families are urged to stay safe and warm.


Polk Schools Shift to Remote Learning Due to Winter Weather

Polk School District will transition to a Learn-from-Home day on Friday, Jan. 10, 2025, due to forecasts of winter weather. All extracurricular activities and sporting events scheduled for Friday and Saturday are canceled and will be rescheduled.

Students should check with their schools or teachers for assignments and expectations.


Carrollton County Schools Go Remote

Cobb Schools Closed Friday: Cobb County Schools and offices will be closed on Friday, Jan. 10, due to forecasted ice and snow. All extracurricular activities, including sports, are also canceled on Friday and Saturday, Jan. 11.

Coweta Schools Monitoring Winter Weather: The Coweta County School System is monitoring the potential for severe winter weather on Friday, Jan. 10. The area is currently under a Winter Storm Watch, according to the National Weather Service.

Officials are consulting with the weather service and local authorities to assess conditions and travel impacts. Updates will be provided Thursday or sooner if forecasts change.


Forsyth County Prepares for Winter Weather: Forsyth County officials attended a briefing at the Emergency Operations Center today, Jan. 8, to discuss preparations for potential winter weather expected Friday and Saturday. The meeting, hosted by the Forsyth County Emergency Management Agency, included updates from the National Weather Service.


Norcross Prepares for Possible Winter Weather: Norcross officials are monitoring the potential for snow and ice later this week and urge residents to prepare for hazardous road conditions and possible power outages.

Ice remains the primary concern, as it could bring down trees and power lines. The Norcross Police Department advises limiting travel during dangerous conditions.

City crews are prepared to handle downed trees and power issues. Residents do not need to report power outages, as “smart” meters will automatically notify providers.

Cobb County Prepares for Winter Weather: The Cobb County Department of Transportation is readying road maintenance crews to treat and clear over 430 miles of roadway in anticipation of possible winter weather. Meanwhile, Cobb Emergency Management is coordinating with GEMA to monitor conditions and ensure preparedness.


Cherokee County Government Offices Closed Friday: Cherokee County government offices, including the Tax Commissioner’s Office and all courts, will be closed Friday, Jan. 10, due to forecasted winter weather. The Cherokee Animal Shelter and Recreation and Parks facilities will also be closed Friday and Saturday, with all Recreation and Parks events canceled.

Residents are advised to avoid travel if possible. Public Works crews are on standby to treat and clear roads, while the Georgia Department of Transportation handles state routes.


Norcross Sanitation Services Delayed: Waste Management has temporarily suspended services in Norcross due to the weather. Friday’s sanitation routes will be rescheduled to Monday, Jan. 13.

Residents should leave carts out on their scheduled collection days to ensure service is completed promptly. Services are expected to return to normal next week.
