SAVANNAH — The Savannah Police Department’s Violent Crimes detectives have made one arrest in the June 11 double homicide on Damascus Street.

29-year-old Derek Gallop Jr. was arrested June 27 and charged with murder in connection to this investigation.

Police say at about 9:40 p.m. on June 11, officers responded to a call on Damascus Street and discovered four men suffering from gunshot wounds.

27-year-old Devonte Henneghan and 30-year-old James Fields Jr. were pronounced dead at the scene. 28-year-old Michael McDaniel and 27-year-old Deonte Jones were treated for their injuries.

The investigation remains active and ongoing.
