STONE MOUNTAIN — A Stone Mountain teenager is in police custody after police say he intentionally backed into an officer’s motorcycle in the parking lot of a fast food restaurant.

The incident occurred April 30 at about noon. An officer assigned to the Motors Unit was conducting speed enforcement on Stone Mountain Highway near Rockbridge Road. His laser detected a grey Ford Fusion traveling 74 miles per hour.

The driver, later identified as 19-year-olr Lamin Ceesay drove into the KFC parking lot and pulled into a parking space. According to police, the officer got off his motorcycle and was standing on the passenger side of the vehicle when the front seat passenger rolled down his window as the driver placed the vehicle in reverse. Lamin backed up, collided with the police motorcycle, and fled the parking lot at a high rate of speed.

The officer gave the tag number over the police radio and officers saturated the area looking for the driver and the vehicle.

A 911 call came in stating that a man was on Stone Mountain Highway near West Park Place Boulevard rolling around in the roadway and acting as if he was swimming.

A nearby officer approached Lamin and placed him under arrest. Lamin told the officer that he was involved in an incident with a motorcycle officer. He was transported to the Gwinnett County Jail.

Lamin Ceesay was arrested on the following list of charges:

  • Fleeing or Attempting to Elude
  • Interference with Government Property
  • Obstruction
  • Hit and Run
  • Speeding
  • Reckless Driving
  • Driving on a Suspended License
  • Window Tint Violation

The motorcycle sustained damage to the front end and was not safe to operate.

The Ford Fusion was found abandoned in the roadway at East Park Place Boulevard and Rockbridge Road.

The vehicle was still running, and the passenger was not inside. The vehicle was impounded.
