Five charged in death of Decatur man who was beaten and shot

DECATUR -- With the surrender today of another suspect, the DeKalb County Sheriff’s Office says a total of five men are now in custody in connection with a shooting death last month.

DECATUR — With the surrender today of another suspect, the DeKalb County Sheriff’s Office says a total of five men are now in custody in connection with a shooting death last month.

The DeKalb Sheriff’s Office Fugitive Unit, with the U.S. Marshals, the DeKalb County Police Department, and the Brookhaven Police Department K9 Unit, made multiple arrests within the past several weeks related to the death of 55 year-old Craig Haynes on Feb. 20 at his home on Bobolink Drive in Decatur.

According to police reports, Haynes died after being beaten with metal holders, vodka bottles and other items before being shot.

No motive was given for the incident.

Those arrested in the case were Decatur residents 28 year-old Ashley Dejuan Fraley, 29 year-old Devin Kinyatta Fraley, 35 year-old Brandon Lewis Cox, 56 year-old John Glenn Coleman, and Opelika, Alabama resident 20 year-old Kevin Mark Scott.

Arrests took place in Decatur; Stonecrest,; Tucker, and Lithonia. All the suspects were arrested without incident and are in custody at the DeKalb County Jail charged with Murder and Aggravated Assault.
