A crackdown on sex trafficking in Macon and Bibb County has resulted in 13 arrests during Operation Macon Plays, a proactive investigation targeting traffickers and commercial sex buyers.

• The investigation was led by the Georgia Bureau of Investigation’s Human Exploitation and Trafficking Unit, with support from Homeland Security Investigations, the Bibb County Sheriff’s Office, and Georgia State Patrol.
• Among the arrested were Georgia Marie Emmons, charged with pimping and giving false information, and Darrell Lee Gillis, charged with pimping.
• Charges ranged from pandering to possession of controlled substances, with others arrested on outstanding warrants.
• The operation also aimed to reduce the demand for commercial sex and identify traffickers.
• Eleven individuals identified as commercial sex workers were offered medical services and community resources.
