Residents of Woodstock will soon see an enhancement to the city’s trail system as work progresses on the extension of the Noonday Creek Trail. This new section of the trail will stretch from the Woodstock Arts Green, pass underneath Highway 92, and connect to Noonday Creek Park in Cobb County.

The extension, which aims to fill a 1.8-mile gap, will eventually link Woodstock’s trail network with Cobb County’s existing trails, facilitating a direct connection to the broader Silver Comet Trail.

Woodstock Mayor Michael Caldwell was on site as work was being done on the trail extension Friday. According to Caldwell, the new portion of trail should open by this time next year.

Construction began in early 2024, and so far the construction is on schedule.

Funded by a combination of federal transportation grants and local contributions, this extension is part of a long-term plan that began over a decade ago. The city of Woodstock is overseeing the project, working closely with neighboring jurisdictions.
