Roswell Repeat Offender Charged with Kidnapping and Possession of Child Sexual Abuse Material

Start

ROSWELL A Roswell man has been charged with kidnapping and possession of child sexual abuse material following the safe recovery of a mother and her young son who were the subject of a Levi’s Call early Wednesday morning.

Brian Betenia, already facing 12 counts of possession of child sexual abuse material from a previous arrest in July, now faces two additional counts of kidnapping and two more counts of possession of such material.

The Details: Authorities launched a search after 32-year-old Ashley Vick and her 4-year-old son, Tanner St. Germain, were last seen on August 20. They were believed to be with Betenia, driving a black 2013 Ford Edge. A Levi’s Call, Georgia’s version of an Amber Alert, was issued to expedite the search. The pair were located safely shortly after 1 a.m. this morning, following a brief vehicle pursuit that ended with Betenia’s arrest by the Forsyth County Sheriff’s Office.

Betenia, now held at the Forsyth County Jail, was initially arrested by the Roswell Police Department in July on charges related to the possession of child sexual abuse material. The ongoing investigation by Roswell’s Internet Crimes Against Children unit has now led to the additional charges.

What’s Next: As Betenia remains in custody, further charges may be added as the investigation continues. Authorities are urging anyone with additional information to contact the Roswell Police Department. Anonymous tips can be submitted through Crime Stoppers Atlanta.
