The Gwinnett County Police Department is investigating a shooting that took place at Gary Pirkle Park at 6195 Austin Garner Road on August 29 after a semi-professional football game was cancelled.
The preliminary information collected by investigators indicates that the game was cancelled after the two teams involved had a brawl in the middle of the field.
According to the Gwinnett County Police, shortly after the game was cancelled, a large number of shots were fired between the parking lot and bathroom area. Police say the evidence collected indicates that there were multiple people shooting.
One male was shot in the leg and was transported to a local hospital with non-life threatening injuries. Detectives say they believe that there were at least a hundred people present at the time of the shooting, most of whom left the park before police arrived.
