Police say man fired gun during robbery and fled on a bicycle

NORCROSS — Police in Gwinnett County are searching for a man who witnesses say fired a gun during a robbery at a local check cashing business.

According to the Gwinnett County Police Department, on Thursday, June 4, after 2 p.m., officers were dispatched to a robbery call at the DolEx at 6101 South Norcross Tucker Road in unincorporated Norcross.  Police say the crime occurred when a masked man walked into the business holding a firearm. He allegedly pushed a customer away from the teller window and then pointed his gun at her. The employee behind the safety glass hid under her teller station and activated the panic alarm. 

Though the suspect didn’t get any cash, he fired his gun twice over the customer’s head prior to leaving. He was seen fleeing on a bicycle. 

“The suspect appeared to be a Hispanic male with darker skin. He was wearing a black ski mask, a flannel shirt, and dark pants,” said Gwinnett County Police spokesperson Michele Pihera.
