Overturned tanker truck snarls traffic on I-985

HALL COUNTY -- An overturned tanker truck has shut down the northbound lanes of I-985 at exit 8, which is the Friendship Road exit.

HALL COUNTY — An overturned tanker truck has shut down the northbound lanes of I-985 at exit 8, which is the Friendship Road exit.

The accident occurred Thursday evening and as of 10 p.m., the road has not re-opened.

The Hall County Sheriff’s Office, Hall County Fire Services and Georgia State Patrol are on scene. Northbound traffic is being diverted onto Friendship Road.

According to county officials, the tanker has leaked about 20 gallons of gasoline onto the ground.

All leaks have been controlled for the time being, and Georgia EPD has been notified, according to fire services.

The northbound side of 985 will remain closed as crews work to clear the accident.

No injuries have been reported.
