Many might not realize that Gwinnett County is named in honor of Button Gwinnett, one of the signers of the U.S. Constitution. While his name might not be as recognizable as other Founding Fathers, Button Gwinnett left an indelible mark on American history.

After signing the Constitution, Gwinnett’s life took a tragic turn, as he died from a wound sustained in a duel. However, his legacy lives on in the vibrant county that bears his name.

Home to the largest Hindu temple in North America

Gwinnett County is home to the largest Hindu temple in North America. The BAPS Shri Swaminarayan Mandir, located in Lilburn, is a marvel of art and architecture. Constructed from Turkish Limestone and Italian marble (which was then shipped to India for carving and subsequently sent back to the U.S.), the temple is a testament to intricate craftsmanship and design.

Besides being a place of worship, the Mandir attracts thousands of visitors each year, eager to witness its architectural brilliance and to understand more about Hindu culture.
