Meet the New Hall County Interim Fire Chief and Deputy Fire Chief

Jerry Smith has been named interim Fire Chief of Hall County Fire Rescue effective Aug. 29. Smith has served Hall County Fire Rescue for 30 years in various roles, including most recently as the Assistant Fire Chief. Bryan Cash has been named interim Deputy Chief after 29 years of service.

“We are grateful for Jerry and Bryan’s willingness to serve in these capacities for the time being,” County Administrator Zach Propes said. “Hall County Fire Rescue is a department of excellence, and we are confident in their abilities to continue moving the department forward while we look to fill the positions permanently.”

Deputy Chief Tim Woodward submitted his resignation effective Aug. 28.

Chief Chris Armstrong submitted his resignation effective Aug. 29 after five years of faithful service to the citizens of Hall County.

“Chris brought a wealth of knowledge, experience and many innovative ideas to life during his tenure with Hall County,” Propes said. “He has served the county well and has the utmost respect of the Hall County Board of Commissioners and County Administration, and we wish him well in his future endeavors.”
