George Johnson, 79, a former Warner Robins Police Chief, was arrested on Thursday, July 27, 2023, on charges of incest, sodomy, and sexual exploitation of a child.

The arrest came after the Georgia Bureau of Investigation agents secured arrest warrants on July 26.

The investigation began on Monday, July 17, following a child abuse complaint filed with the Houston County Sheriff’s Office. The complaint alleged that Johnson had abused a teenage female victim.

The incidents were reported to have taken place in both Houston County and Pulaski County since 2022.

Due to the involvement of multiple judicial circuits, the Houston County Sheriff Cullen Talton and Pulaski County Sheriff Danny Brannen sought assistance from the GBI to conduct the investigation.

George Johnson, who served as the Warner Robins Police Chief during the late 80s and early 90s, was taken into custody on the morning of July 27.

The case will now be handed over to the Houston County District Attorney’s Office for prosecution.
