Alabama Woman Dies Following Motorcycle Collision on I-475 in Macon

MACON — Tragedy struck the aftermath of the single-vehicle collision that occurred on I-475 north, near mile marker 7, involving a motorcycle. The Bibb County Sheriff’s Office has confirmed that the passenger, Stephanie Burnside, of Alabama, has died from her injuries.

According to the coroner, Lonnie Miley, the next of kin has been notified.

The collision, which was reported to the Macon-Bibb 911 Center at around 2:23 p.m. yesterday, involved a 41-year-old Alabama man who lost control of his motorcycle due to a rear tire blowout.

The motorcycle crossed over several lanes of travel and struck a guardrail, resulting in both the driver and passenger being taken to Atrium Health Navicent for medical attention.

The driver is listed to be in stable condition.

The Bibb County Sheriff’s Office continues to investigate the collision and is urging anyone with information to come forward.
