Suspect arrested in killing of pregnant Clarkston woman

CLARKSTON — A suspect has been apprehended by the DeKalb County Sheriff’s Office Fugitive Unit in connection with the shooting death of a pregnant woman in Clarkston.

According to the DeKalb County Sheriff’s Office, 22-year-old Diamonte Oiy’Shawn Haithcoats was located without incident outside a barber shop on Memorial Drive in Decatur and is now facing charges of malice murder for the killing of Shaniyah Monet Rodriguez.

Rodriguez was found unresponsive with a gunshot wound to the head at her residence in the Brannon Hill condominium community on Feb. 2.

According to the sheriff’s office, the victim was seven months pregnant with Haithcoats’ child, and the two had been living together in the victim’s mother’s home.

Authorities have not released any further details regarding the case or a possible motive for the murder.

Haithcoats is currently being held without bond at the DeKalb County Jail.
