North Point Community Church, a metro Atlanta megachurch with multiple campuses, announced this week that they would be suspending in-person worship services for the remainder of the year.

The church has not held in-person worship services since the COVID-19 pandemic began and has met virtually, but has decided to continue to only meet virtually for the rest of the year.

“We cannot guarantee your safety,” said church pastor Andy Stanley.

Stanley cited the difficulty in contact tracing as one of several factors in the church’s decision, and also pointed to increasing numbers of coronavirus cases and the experience of other churches that have reopened.
