With positive tests for COVID-19 and hospitalizations on the rise, Fulton County Commission Chairman Robb Pitts is urging all Fulton County residents to wear face covering, practice social distancing, and wash their hands regularly.
“While I am not empowered to mandate the use of facial coverings across Fulton County, I am convinced that at this juncture it is an absolute necessity to do so. It is the wise thing to do, smart thing to do, and the moral thing to do,” said Pitts.
Last month Fulton County Board of Commissioners adopted legislation requiring face coverings to be worn in all Fulton County facilities. Fulton County is also launching a marketing and outreach campaign to remind all residents to be tested for COVID-19, wear a mask, and practice social distancing.
Dr. Lynn Paxton, District Health Director for the Fulton County Board of Health said she has been closely following the COVID-19 daily case counts.
“Looking at the data, we can clearly see that cases have been rapidly rising over the past week and that we are now entering an accelerated phase of the epidemic,” said Paxton.
As of Sunday, Fulton County has 8,652 confirmed cases of COVID-19 and 314 total deaths from the virus.
