A low pressure system will bring rainfall to much of the area on Thursday afternoon. As temperatures begin to drop later on Thursday, there’s the potential for rain to transition into snow across portions of northern Georgia late Thursday, lingering into the day on Friday.

While temperatures will be just at or slightly below freezing, enough cold air will be in place for this transition to take place. Precipitation looks to end during the day on Friday.

As of the current forecast, there is potential for accumulating snow generally across the higher elevations of the north Georgia mountains, where about one to two inches of accumulation are expected.

The Georgia Sun will continue to keep you updated as the forecast changes.
