Georgia will see temperatures running 12 to 18 degrees above normal through Saturday, the National Weather Service in Atlanta said Tuesday evening.

The week ahead: Highs will stay between 80 and 85 degrees Wednesday through Saturday. Isolated to scattered afternoon storms are possible each day, with overnight lows in the mid-to-upper 50s.

Storm chances: The National Weather Service puts the thunderstorm chance at 25 to 40 percent each evening through the weekend. Wednesday brings isolated storms in North Georgia. Thursday brings isolated storms in Northwest Georgia. Friday and Saturday turn cloudier, with showers and scattered afternoon storms expected.

Sunday: A weather front, which is a boundary between air masses that typically brings rain and wind, pushes into the area Sunday morning and continues through the afternoon. It will bring a line of showers and storms throughout the day. Highs drop to between 70 and 80 degrees. The National Weather Service says the widespread severe risk remains low.

After the front: Temperatures fall sharply. Monday and Tuesday highs drop to 65 to 70 degrees, with overnight lows between 40 and 50 degrees. Isolated storms remain possible in Central Georgia on both days.
