A three-vehicle collision on Cobb Parkway North in Marietta on Friday night left three people injured, including two Marietta police officers. The crash occurred at around 10:15 p.m. at the intersection of Cobb Parkway and Roswell Street.

The Details: According to the Marietta Police Department’s initial investigation, a 60-year-old Atlanta resident, was driving a Ford Mustang southbound on Cobb Parkway at a high speed. As the driver approached the intersection at Roswell Street, the traffic light was red.

Officers Morrison and Sherman were also traveling southbound in a marked patrol vehicle, slowing down as they approached the red light.

According to police, the Mustang reportedly struck the rear passenger corner of the patrol vehicle, causing it to spin out of control and collide with a Toyota Prius driven by a 60-year-old Marietta resident. The impact ejected the driver from the Mustang, and both officers were trapped in their vehicle, requiring extrication by emergency responders.

In Context: Both officers were transported to Kennestone Hospital with serious injuries but have since been released. The driver of the Mustang, who suffered non-life-threatening injuries, remains hospitalized.
