Two separate boating accidents on Lake Lanier during the Fourth of July resulted in four people being hospitalized, according to the Georgia Department of Natural Resources.

What Happened:? The first incident occurred around 1 p.m. at Buford Dam Park, involving a collision between two personal water crafts. Three people from one watercraft were taken to Northeast Georgia Medical Center in Gainesville with lacerations, abrasions, and fractures.

According to the Department of Natural Resources, the rental company allegedly failed to comply with laws and regulations, leading to an arrest. The operator of the at-fault watercraft fled on foot before law enforcement arrived.

The second incident took place at 2:30 p.m. at Burton Mill Park when a person jumped from a boat into shallow water, resulting in a fractured rib. This individual was also taken to the hospital.
