The Gist: New cases of coronavirus continue to decline this week. While the number is still elevated over the previous spike in July, the state is seeing a significant drop in new cases.
However, that trend is not continuing when it comes to COVID-19 deaths and hospitalizations. Deaths were at an all time high in Georgia Tuesday, when the state reported 169 new coronavirus deaths. Wednesday saw 149 new deaths reported.
Hospitalizations remain elevated. There were 305 new hospitalizations reported Wednesday.
